This memorial is dedicated to the men and women who lost their lives while at labor in Champaign County. May this solemn site serve as a reminder of the dangers inherent in every workplace.
We mourn their lives and dedicate this special place in their names and we vow from this day forward to work for a safer and healthier workplace for all workers.

The formal dedication of the Workers
Memorial in Dodds Park was held on Labor Day Monday, Sept. 2 at 5:00 p.m.
This memorial, a labor of love for many, will honor Champaign County
residents who lost their lives working on the job in Champaign County.
Money for the project was raised through grassroots donations, local trade
unions, contractors and a grant obtained through the office of U.S.
Representative Timothy Johnson.
Our sincere thanks to all the local trade unions who donated their time
and effort to construct the Workers Memorial. Without your efforts, this
project would have never been completed. Our thanks to all those who had a
vision for this memorial to remember our fellow workers.
