TEAM History

Union Contractors Working with Organized Labor

Historical Profile:

TEAM had its beginnings in 1982 when three Building Trades Craft unions and their employers begin funding a Champaign County Construction Industry Labor Management Committee. The three craft unions providing the initial funding for TEAM were the Bricklayers Local #8, Carpenters Local #44 and Ironworkers Local #380 and the employers signatory to their respective collective bargaining agreements.

TEAM engaged in numerous promotional activities during those formative years including the publication of a brochure, safety training and advertising ventures. In March of 2000, Team hired its first coordinator to begin expansion of our services to the labor/management sector of Champaign County.

TEAM now offers local access to statewide project blueprints and specification with its plan room service. We train help train supervisors at every level, maintain a Web Site, and work at securing Federal and State Labor/Management grants to promote Champaign County and providing liaison between the construction industry and the economic development principals in our area.

Working closely with Parkland Community College, TEAM has been instrumental in gaining acedemic recognition for several of the building trade apprenticeship programs and are striving to establish permanent, college-level training for the construction industry supervisor course work.

TEAM serves as your link to construction related activities in all of Champaign County. Check our LINKS page for all essential services from local governments to Federal agencies.
